The Choir performed their Summer Concert on 25th May 2018 to a packed house in Craigiebuckler Church, with our special guest, Tony Moffat.

Hailing from Hexham Northumberland, Anthony Moffat was trained at the Royal Academy of Music, London by Armenian Soloist and Orchestra Leader, Manoug Parikian. On graduating in 1987 he gained the highest accolade for violin by winning the Marjorie Hayward Prize.

His passion for chamber music was encouraged and nurtured over several years by the members of the Amadeus Quartet but it is as devotee of Piano Trio that he is best known. He has given trio recitals in the Wigmore Hall and Purcell Room in London. As violinist of the Da Vinci Piano Trio he has toured across Europe and has broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

His career as Orchestra Leader began as Co-leader of the Halle Orchestra prior to accepting his current post as Leader of the Orchestra of Scottish Opera in 2000. He has appeared as Guest Leader with BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland.

He has also been invited to lead the BBC Symphony Orchestra in London.

He plays on a fine violin by Giovanni Grancino of Milan made in 1695.

The concert received an excellent review from Alan Cooper - many thanks to Alan for this.  See the Reviews page.
